Kathy is a native Houstonian – a rarity in these parts. She moved to Katy about 30 years ago. It was a time when Cinco Ranch was a real working ranch. Only those with a pioneering spirit actually moved to the Katy area of their own will. A few years ago Kathy began to look for a country-style property. She was armed with a list of wants and needs developed over her lifetime. That’s when she found home in Fulshear.
Why Fulshear?
Kathy now realizes that you can build a home anywhere and come really close to the home of your dreams. What puts it over the top is location.
Community. In Fulshear, Kathy found small town living within easy commute to work, shopping, entertainment and medical facilities. Neighbors greet each other at the service stations (both of them) and restaurants (5 of them and growing). No one seems to be in a hurry. Fulshear has a large percentage of legacy property owners. Those who aren’t are content to stay unless a move is forced by health or employment. Some even sell only to move up or down within the same neighborhood.
Fulshear is poised for growth that it has not experienced in decades. Community leaders are committed to that growth within the confines of retaining Fulshear’s small town charm. Coming soon are a number of new neighborhoods that will offer all the amenities of nearby Katy…and more!
Investment. There are a number of acreage properties in northwest Fort Bend County, including Fulshear. They are as varied as large acreage properties with agricultural exemptions and no restrictions to subdivision lots in a gate-guarded golf course community. If one does not want the upkeep of acreage property, then there are smaller choices down to and including patio homes. Great opportunities abound to fit most lifestyles. A plus to this investment is that the tax rate for these properties is much lower than neighboring South Katy area.
Setting. Here you can have a quiet, peaceful life where you can kick back to enjoy the flora and fauna or get actively involved with golfing, hiking, biking, fishing and a myriad of other pastimes. You can have a home in the woods, on a waterway or backing to a golf course. You can have a patio home with almost no lawn maintenance or more than an acre of land. If you have or want to have a horse, then there’s a place for them, too!
Where is Fulshear?
Fulshear, Texas is about 7 miles south of Brookshire, 11 miles southwest of Katy and 7 miles west of the Westpark Tollway. The westward expansion is already having its affect. Major freeways, such as I-10, the Grand Parkway and Westpark Tollway, have been built or expanded to effect shorter commutes to the Energy Corridor, Galleria, and Greenway Plaza. And more improvements are planned.
So where does Kathy live? She is living in Riverwood Forest at Weston Lakes, a gate-guarded golf community. Even though she knows nothing about golf, she found that perfect 1-acre heavily wooded lot that is surrounded on 2 sides by a deep ravine. That is where she built a custom home that fit her lifestyle perfectly.
If you, like Kathy, are searching for that getaway that gives you a feel of the country yet close in enough to get where you want to go, you owe it to yourself to consider Fulshear and northwest Fort Bend County.
